Top Three Reasons Why I Think Harrison Ford is Good for the Next Star Wars Trilogy

18 Feb 2013, Posted by Creed Noir in the Journal

With the unofficial word/rumours that Harrison Ford has signed on to reprise the role of Han Solo, I’ve seen a lot of comments about fans wishing he wouldn’t. Well here you go boys and girls. Here are my top three reasons why he should! This is of course running with the ASSUMPTION that Star Wars Episode VII is set 30 years after Return of the Jedi and other continuity issues.

Reason Three

Seems a shame to have the next trilogy instalment not include any of the surviving cast from Return of the Jedi. I really love it when in a movie, it shows character progression. Look at Tron and Tron Legacy. The story didn’t stop just because the first movie did. It continued. I would love to see Han Solo and what success has done to him.

Reason Two

Harrison Ford should be the only actor to play an older Han Solo. Yep, I said it. If Disney/Abrams are going to have an older Han Solo in the story then shouldn’t we use the perfect actor such a thing? I really dislike it when characters are often re-casted by different actors. It ruins immersion for me unless there’s some sort of in story reason for such a switch… Dr. Who comes to mind!

Reason One

He’s Harrison Ford. Why the Hell not?

So there we have it. Adding Harrison Ford to the project really gets me excited for Episode VII. With Abrams added as director, this whole project is beginning to take shape in a positive way.
